Daytona/Orlando 2010

Since I actually got the girls to sleep at the same time for naptime, I thought I would take this time to post a little about our family vacation to Daytona and then to Orlando. Plenty of pictures to come....

The view from our room was beautiful. We were right on the beach in Daytona. Our girls were so sweet in that they woke us up each morning in time for the sunrise! :0) We even got to see the dolphins jumping in the waves during the morning hours before everyone went out to the beach for the day.

Last year, Hayden was not a big fan of the sand so we made a big deal about buying beach toys and building sand castles. Fortunately her teacher also did a unit on the beach/ocean so she was even more excited about going to the beach this year. We had a blast building sand castles together--even though the process of building the castles involved me building it and her knocking it down.

Ava enjoyed the beach too. Her favorite spot was in her stroller taking a nap. She did like the sand until she decided to taste it. :0) We had a much happier experience with her first time in the sand than with Hayden last year.

Hayden even enjoyed looking for seashells. There weren't many out on the beach but we went on a little hunt. I love this picture!

Hayden and her daddy resting in the shade. Hayden was a little afraid of the water and she was convinced it was going to come and get her so her daddy had to protect her!

Of course our room had no carpet in it and Ava was just learning to crawl on this trip. Fortunately, we thought ahead to bring our own "carpet". Ava had a blast with her own special play area!

Out enjoying the beach from our shady balcony after naps!

Ava is really growing up!!

Our final night in Daytona we went out for ice cream. Hayden enjoyed her very first ice cream cone that she did not have to share! (She ended up wearing most of it)

Ava's first time in the pool was in Orlando. She LOVED the water! Her favorite party was sitting on the side and splashing the water in her face. She would laugh so hard after doing it. It is so amazing to me how different two sisters can be.

After a day or two, Hayden became more and more comfortable with the water and began to slowly let go of her dad or Paw Paw (whoever was helping her). She was learning the basics of swimming with her special float. By the end of the week, she became so comfortable that she was jumping off the side of the pool into someone's arms.

The perfect picture to show how we felt at the end of the week! Hayden was trying to show off her new Cinderella doll Nana and Paw Paw bought for her but she was so tired! (We had a pretty quiet ride home because both girls were so tired!)

A special night out. Bruce and I were able to go out one evening while mom and dad played with our girls. We went to have lobster for the first time. DELICIOUS!

Vacations are always so special but they also make Home so much sweeter when you return!
